Zallaf Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company has announced the successful completion of the first phase of the South Oil Refinery project. The company revealed that work on the second and final phase is already underway.

In a recent statement, Zallaf detailed that negotiations are in progress for the implementation and issuance of purchase orders for the long-term equipment required for the commencement of actual production. The company took the opportunity to address and refute rumors circulating on social media regarding the project's termination, affirming that such claims are entirely baseless and that the project remains on schedule.

Zallaf urged media outlets and social media platforms to maintain credibility and accuracy in their reporting. The company emphasized its commitment to transparency, highlighting that it regularly updates the public on the project's progress.

The South Oil Refinery project holds significant strategic importance for Libya, particularly for the Fezzan region. The refinery is expected to play a crucial role in mitigating the fuel shortage crisis affecting the area, which, despite its rich oil resources, faces a lack of essential services. The project's completion is anticipated to bring much-needed economic and social benefits to the region, furthering Libya's overall development goals.
