In a strategic move for Libya's energy sector, Zallaf Libya Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Company confirmed that preparatory works at the Southern Refinery site will commence in the coming weeks. During a technical meeting held on Sunday, the company's technical and financial departments reviewed its 2024 operational strategy, future projects, and the 2025 production plan.

The discussion highlighted updates on the Southern Refinery project, with Zallaf announcing that detailed designs and equipment manufacturing for the second and final phase are underway. The project aims to support spatial development, address fuel shortages in southern Libya, promote self-sufficiency, create job opportunities, and contribute to national economic growth.

Key attendees included directors from refining and distribution, health, safety, and environment (HSE), maintenance engineering, minor projects, inspection and measurement departments, Zallaf's board members, specialists, and the manufacturing department director from the Petroleum Research Center.

The Southern Refinery project, one of Libya’s most significant strategic endeavors, demonstrates a strong commitment to bolstering energy security and fostering economic stability.
