YPF has once again set a drilling speed record in the Vaca Muerta unconventional formation, achieving 1,543 metres of lateral drilling in just 24 hours. This milestone was reached at the La Angostura Sur site, as part of a well that extended to a total of 5,542 metres in 16 days.
This achievement is part of YPF's strategy, controlled by the national government, to expand the development of Vaca Muerta to the south of Loma Campana, where the majority of activity is currently concentrated. The company has demonstrated continuous improvement in efficiency, drilling faster and at lower costs. This has been made possible by reducing non-productive time and incorporating cutting-edge technology and expertise.
YPF has planned one of the most significant drilling campaigns in its history this year, focusing on the oil window with the aim of increasing production in the Neuquén Basin. This effort is part of the 4×4 Plan, which seeks to position YPF as a crude oil exporter.
The ongoing success of YPF in Vaca Muerta not only benefits the company but also has a positive impact on the Argentine economy. Increased hydrocarbon production helps reduce the country's dependency on energy imports, generates employment, and promotes economic development in the involved regions. Additionally, positioning YPF as a crude oil exporter can improve Argentina's trade balance and strengthen its standing in the global energy market.
With these advancements, YPF not only reaffirms its leadership in Vaca Muerta but also sets a new benchmark in the petroleum industry.
