Angola, 23 May, 2024 (The Energy Circle) - TotalEnergies has awarded Saipem three significant contracts for developing the Kaminho project, located about 100 km off the coast of Angola. This project focuses on the Cameia and Golfinho oil fields and marks a major step forward in offshore Angola's oil industry.
The contracts, valued at $3.7 billion, incorporate diverse work. The first contract involves the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, and commissioning of the Kaminho floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. This vessel will be central to the project’s operations.
The second contract is for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the FPSO for an initial period of 12 years, with an option to extend for an additional 8 years. Saipem will use its extensive experience managing three other FPSOs in Angola to ensure smooth operations.
The third contract covers the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of a subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) package. This includes approximately 30 km of subsea flowlines and risers. Fabrication of the associated structures will be carried out at Saipem’s local yard in Ambriz.
Saipem will also deploy its FDS J-lay vessel and heavily engage the local supply chain for logistics and fabrication activities. This project highlights the resurgence of offshore activity in Angola, contributing to the growth of the region’s oil industry.
