In a significant development for Egypt's oil industry, TAG Oil is poised to achieve robust production levels from the Badr Oil Field (BED-1) following a smooth exploration and development process. The company has announced the successful completion of the drilling phase for the BED4-T100 horizontal well, situated in the Abu Roash 'F' limestone formation (ARF).

The drilling operation has yielded promising results, with the well penetrating an over-pressured reservoir boasting exceptional porosity and permeability. Notably, during drilling, indications of free oil flowing into the wellbore and to the surface have been observed, accompanied by consistently elevated gas readings across the ARF formation. These findings suggest the potential for a high gas to oil ratio in the ARF zone, which is anticipated to augment the T100 well’s production capabilities.

To ensure operational safety and efficiency, TAG Oil has made the proactive decision to adjust the lateral length of the well to 308 meters (1,000 feet). Moreover, the company is now focusing on optimizing the multistage hydraulic fracture completion design to maximize the stimulated reservoir volume of the wellbore. These measures are expected to enhance the production performance of the ARF horizontal well significantly.

Preparations for the completion stage, a crucial step before commencing fracture stimulation, are well underway. The installation of the 4-1/2” liner with the packers assembly necessary for completion has been completed, and the drilling rig is in the process of being released. Furthermore, surface equipment and personnel required for completion will be mobilized to the T100 well location promptly, with the stimulation of the well expected to commence in mid-April.

TAG Oil's proactive approach and strategic optimization efforts underscore its commitment to maximizing the potential of the Badr Oil Field. With expectations of robust oil production performance, this development marks a significant milestone in Egypt's onshore oil sector, positioning TAG Oil as a key player in the country's energy landscape.
