The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) and Storengy - ENGIE SAS, a subsidiary of the ENGIE Group, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore natural hydrogen potential in Morocco. The agreement was signed by Mrs. Amina BENKHADRA, CEO of ONHYM, and Mr. Alain Caracatzanis, CEO of Storengy.
The MoU focuses on exploring natural hydrogen resources in the MESETA COASTAL area, covering the Berrechid, Ben Slimane, and Doukkala basins. This collaboration aligns with ONHYM's strategy to leverage the natural hydrogen potential discovered in Morocco’s subsoil.
Storengy, a leading subsidiary of ENGIE, is renowned for its expertise in underground natural gas storage. Their involvement in this project highlights the growing international interest in natural hydrogen as a sustainable energy source.
The signing of this MoU underscores Morocco’s commitment to advancing its renewable energy sector and diversifying its energy portfolio. This partnership is expected to bring significant benefits to both parties and further solidify Morocco's position as a leader in renewable energy.
