Muscat – Oman LNG has recently finalized a pivotal Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with SEFE Secure Energy for Europe, a prominent German entity, for the annual supply of 0.4 million metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany.

The SPA, inked on the sidelines of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2024 and graced by the presence of H E Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, solidifies a commitment previously made by Oman LNG to supply SEFE with the same volume of LNG annually, commencing in 2026.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in the enduring energy partnership between Germany and Oman, as SEFE becomes the first German company to engage in purchasing Omani gas.

Oman LNG emphasized in a statement that this strategic alliance signifies a substantial advancement in reinforcing the LNG supply chain, underlining its dedication to fulfilling SEFE’s energy requirements.

Hamed al Naamany, CEO of Oman LNG, expressed, “The agreement signifies a landmark moment for both Oman LNG and SEFE, exemplifying a substantial stride towards enhanced cooperation. It underscores the mutual benefits derived from this partnership. For Oman LNG, it represents access to new markets, leveraging technological advancements from Germany, and broader economic growth prospects. Meanwhile, SEFE gains a dependable and esteemed energy provider, consolidating its foothold in the European market.”

Moreover, this collaboration with SEFE serves to strengthen Oman’s relations with Germany, significantly contributing to energy security initiatives while opening up fresh avenues for Oman LNG in the German market and beyond, affirming its commitment to fostering growth and collaborative endeavors to enrich Oman’s economy.
