The Libya National Oil Corporation (NOC) has applauded the exceptional efforts of oil sector workers, which led to a significant surge in crude oil production, reaching 1,417,382 barrels per day in 2024. This remarkable achievement was realized despite limited funding, budget shortfalls, and multiple force majeure declarations that temporarily halted operations.
During a meeting held at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli, the board of directors, alongside key officials from production and operations departments across the sector, discussed the accomplishments and challenges of the past year. The meeting was also attended by the Director of Production and the International Marketing Department of the NOC.
Eng. Masoud Suleiman, praised the resilience and determination demonstrated by companies, departments, and field workers across Libya’s oil sites. He emphasized that their hard work was key to achieving the ambitious production targets set during the 2023 general assembly meetings. Suleiman expressed optimism for 2025, calling for continued excellence and increased efforts to achieve new milestones. He also highlighted the NOC’s commitment to balancing increased output with environmental conservation and reservoir management.
The meeting also addressed key challenges to the 2025 production strategy, such as the need to expand storage capacity, implement contingency plans to manage production flow during adverse weather conditions, and reopen closed wells to enhance output. Moreover, the integration of digital technologies and advanced operational systems was underscored as essential for boosting efficiency and sustainability.
The NOC’s proactive approach reflects its dedication to strengthening Libya's energy sector, ensuring sustainable growth, and reinforcing its role as a key player in global energy markets.
