The National Oil Corporation's (NOC) Board of Directors has highly praised the tireless efforts of oil sector workers, which resulted in a remarkable increase in crude oil production, reaching 1,417,382 barrels per day in 2024. This achievement comes despite severe funding shortages, the lack of essential budgets, and the challenges posed by multiple force majeure declarations that led to temporary halts in production.
The commendation came during a meeting held at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli, which brought together the board of directors, as well as directors of production and operations departments from across the sector. The meeting was attended by the Director of Production and the International Marketing Department of the NOC.
Eng. Masoud Suleiman, acknowledged the resilience and dedication of all companies, departments, and workers across oil sites. He highlighted their commitment to meeting production targets, which were set during last year's general assembly meetings, despite the extraordinary circumstances. Suleiman expressed his hope that this level of performance and dedication will continue in 2025, with aspirations to achieve even greater milestones. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining environmental conservation initiatives in parallel with increased production and reservoir management.
The meeting also reviewed key challenges for the 2025 production plan, including the necessity to enhance storage capacity, develop contingency plans for managing product flow during adverse weather and force majeure events, and reopen inactive wells to boost output. Additionally, the adoption of digital transformation technologies was highlighted as a crucial step toward operational efficiency and future resilience.
This proactive approach underscores the NOC’s commitment to sustaining and expanding Libya’s energy output while addressing financial constraints and operational challenges.
