Mellitah Oil & Gas has announced the successful restoration of production at Well B3-23 in the Bouri field, following extensive maintenance work. The well, which had been shut-in, was brought back online after rigorous testing over the past two days, achieving a production rate of 506 barrels of oil per day.

The maintenance effort was undertaken as part of the National Oil Corporation's (NOC) strategic plan to boost Libya's oil production capacity. This initiative reflects the commitment of both Mellitah Oil & Gas and the NOC to revitalizing the country's energy infrastructure, which plays a critical role in supporting Libya's economic stability and development.

Located offshore in the Mediterranean, the Bouri field is a key asset in Libya's oil portfolio. It is renowned as one of the largest offshore oil fields in the country, producing significant quantities of crude oil that contribute to the nation's export revenue. The successful restoration of Well B3-23 highlights Mellitah’s ability to overcome technical and operational challenges, ensuring efficient and reliable output.

In a statement, Mellitah Oil & Gas emphasized that the maintenance and reactivation of the well were carried out with a focus on safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. The work included comprehensive inspections, repairs, and upgrades to optimize the well's performance while adhering to the highest environmental standards.

The resumption of production at Well B3-23 comes at a time when Libya is intensifying efforts to strengthen its energy sector. The NOC's strategic plan includes similar maintenance projects across other key oil fields, aiming to raise production levels and reinforce Libya's position as a major energy supplier in the region.

Industry experts have noted that the restoration of production at B3-23 is not only a technical success but also a significant step in rebuilding investor confidence in Libya's oil and gas sector. By demonstrating its capability to maintain and restore critical infrastructure, Mellitah Oil & Gas is reaffirming its role as a key player in the country’s energy landscape.

This development is expected to have a positive impact on Libya's overall production figures, which remain a vital component of the nation’s economic recovery. As the NOC and its partners continue to implement their production enhancement plans, projects like this underline the importance of collaboration, technical expertise, and strategic planning in driving the country's energy ambitions forward.

Mellitah Oil & Gas is a joint venture between the National Oil Corporation of Libya and Eni, the Italian energy major, combining local expertise with international experience to manage and optimize some of the most significant oil and gas assets in Libya.
