In a significant development for Libya's energy sector, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) revealed a major breakthrough last Tuesday, April 9th. The subsidiary Sirt Oil announced a pivotal discovery in the realm of gas and condensates, following the successful drilling of the exploratory well (W, W, 1-6) within a new geological formation in contract area (M). N.6), located Southeast of Al-Lahib Field.

The NOC disclosed that the well underwent testing on April 6th, subsequent to fruitful drilling operations that culminated in reaching a final depth of 8,666 feet (approximately 2,641 meters). The productivity test results from the Oasis layer reservoir, utilizing a choke size of 48/64 inches, were nothing short of remarkable. The well demonstrated a production capacity of 16.8 million cubic feet per day of gas and 626 barrels per day of oil, boasting a specific density of 49 (API).

This groundbreaking discovery aligns closely with the NOC's strategic plan aimed at augmenting oil and gas production rates and achieving ambitious targets across various oil sites. Moreover, the corporation emphasized that this find will play a pivotal role in bolstering the quantities of gas essential for meeting the coastal network's demand for natural gas.

Libya, endowed with abundant natural resources, has long been a key player in the global energy landscape. The latest discovery by Sirt Oil underscores the nation's potential to further enhance its position in the international energy market. As the NOC continues to pursue its strategic objectives, such discoveries are poised to contribute significantly to Libya's economic growth and energy security.

The announcement of this discovery marks a significant milestone in Libya's ongoing efforts to leverage its natural resources for the benefit of its citizens and the global community alike. With further developments expected in the coming months, stakeholders within and beyond Libya eagerly anticipate the potential implications of this newfound energy reserve.
