The recent delivery signifies a robust recovery and reaffirms Brunei LNG's commitment to maintaining Energy supply continuity.

Successful delivery to Vietnam

The vessel carrying the first post-outage LNG cargo departed from Lumut port on June 2 and arrived at Vietnam’s Thi Vai terminal on June 12. This shipment was received by PetroVietnam Gas, illustrating the strong trade ties and Energy cooperation between Brunei and Vietnam. The timely delivery is a testament to Brunei LNG’s efficient operational recovery and strategic planning.

Strengthening regional Energy security

This event is crucial for Energy security in Southeast Asia. The resumption of LNG deliveries from Brunei helps stabilize the regional Energy market, ensuring a steady supply of Natural Gas. Brunei LNG’s ability to overcome operational challenges and continue its supply underscores the resilience and reliability of the region’s Energy infrastructure.

Strategic importance of LNG supply

Brunei LNG, a key player in the regional Energy sector, has a production capacity of 7.2 million metric tons per year. The company is 50% owned by the government of Brunei, with the remaining shares held equally by Mitsubishi Corp and Shell. The recent delivery highlights the importance of LNG in meeting the growing Energy demands of Southeast Asia, supporting both industrial and residential Energy needs.

Future outlook

As Brunei LNG continues to recover from the outage, future shipments are expected to further stabilize and strengthen the Energy supply chain in the region. The company’s swift return to operation demonstrates its capability to handle disruptions and its critical role in the Southeast Asian Energy landscape.
